Keynotes
It’s Time to Stop Asking Women to Lean-In and Ask Men to Stand-Up
How does a man wearing size 14 red pumps serve to illustrate the current state of women’s leadership in this country? Simply put, men and women are having significantly different workplace experiences in the workplace. Best-in-class companies are realizing that one of the keys to advancing women is active male engagement. In this fast-paced and entertaining keynote, participants will learn:
- The significantly different workplace experiences men and women are having…and how they can start to talk about them
- The overwhelming ROI of investing in women
- The four things men need to do on a daily basis to become champions for women in the workplace
The Audacity of Sisterhood
We are living in a unique time where sisterhood is not only important but essential. We learn at a young age that other girls are both our co-conspirators and competition. Therein lies our conflict. This is the time for us to put the “sister” back into “sisterhood.” True sisterhood is about how women support the success of other women. Learn what you can do to support and empower your “sisters.” Sisterhood means we ALL achieve success beyond our wildest dreams.
Workshops
Attendees can participate in two workshops. You will have the opportunity to indicate your preferences during the registration process.
#1 Personal Mastery: Living a Values Driven Life with Monica Cost
85% of mental chatter is negative. What we think, affects what we do. What we do affects, what we expect. What we expect is rooted in our values. Our values are the filter for how we view the world. It’s a chain reaction. Are you living according to YOUR core values? Participating in Monica’s Value Identification Process™ (V.I.P.) will identify your core values, discover areas of unfulfillment and create a process for taming your mental chatter. The results of this discussion are personal clarity, professional focus and a more unapologetic existence.
#2 Brand Networking: The Art of Meeting for Coffee with Terry Barclay and Brenda Meller
We all have heard that networking is key to career success, but how do you get started? Or if you’re already networking, is there a better way to build those strategic connections? Join Terry Barclay, Inforum’s CEO, and Brenda Meller, Owner of Meller Marketing, for an interactive, action-focused session to learn about the Art of Networking, online and in person. Attendees will learn:
- The importance of informational interviews throughout your career
- How to tap into online resources like LinkedIn to prepare for meetings and networking events
- Techniques to find more time to network, such as “virtual coffees”
#3 Genuine Presence with Dot Proux
Join us for a conversation that will enable you to strategically communicate your greatness! Our culture has certain expectations about how women should “show up” at work. In this session, you’ll learn some techniques for communicating your opinions and ideas in a way that is authentic to who you are. Our discussion will be especially helpful if you struggle to take credit for your work or have received feedback that you should “tone it down” a bit after conveying your thoughts with strong conviction.
#4 Fail Well and the World Opens Up to You with Amy Peterson
When you can fail well, there is no challenge you can’t pursue. Your self-worth doesn’t ride on your success. You have the courage to ask for help when you need it – and leverage every resource available to you to get the job done. You have the ability to be vulnerable about your limits, authentic with your peers and forge powerful networks as a result. This breakout is intended to give participants the opportunity to start learning and failing well.
PANEL: Claire Groen, Mike Cazar and moderated by Mayor Bliss
Can Mars and Venus be Allies?
We all know that men are from Mars and women are from Venus, but is this also true in the workplace? Do men and women really take that different of an approach to networking, failure and being an effective workplace ally? Join in the discussion with gender champions from Amway and Wolverine Worldwide as they share their personal experiences and insights. Gain the knowledge you need to build and leverage networks, how to fail successfully and how to be an ally with Mars, or Venus, or both!
