Ditch the Business Card: Program an NFC Tag to Share Your Profile with One Tap

Ever tapped your phone against a hotel key card or a payment terminal? That's NFC, near-field communication, and it's a cheap little piece of technology that most people walk right past.

In this hands-on session, we're going to program NFC tags together. Just bring your phone. You'll leave with a tag programmed to share your LinkedIn profile (or any website you pick) with one tap. No fumbling for a business card, no spelling out your name while someone squints at their screen. Hand your tag to someone at a networking event, they tap it, and they're on your profile.

So beyond the party trick, here's why it matters: once you see how NFC works, you start noticing uses everywhere. We'll go through ways to use it for automations at home and at work, like tapping a tag by your door to kick off a routine, sharing your WiFi without reading a 20-character password out loud, or launching a workflow the second you sit down at your desk. The tags cost pennies, the app is free, and you don't need any technical background.

Bring your phone and some curiosity. You'll walk out with a working tag and plenty of ideas for what to do with it.

Kendra Corman is a marketing strategist, speaker, and AI trainer with more than 20 years in the field. She's the founder of H2H Consulting, where she acts as an outsourced marketing department for small businesses and nonprofits, and of KendraCorman.com, where she teaches podcasting, email marketing, and AI, her most-requested topic. She wrote a book on AI in 2024, hosts the Imperfect Marketing podcast, and serves as Management and Marketing Program Chair at Rochester Christian University. Her approach is practical: start with the goal, then find the fastest way there.

Troy Affinity Group Meeting

The mission of the Inforum Troy Morning Networking Group is to be the one meeting you look forward to attending each month. We are committed to an “apology-free” zone so do not apologize if you’re a few minutes late, or if you need to leave a few minutes early (we’ve ALL been there).
