AI & Data Governance That Actually Works
Most governance frameworks gather dust because they're built for compliance checks, not for people trying to get work done. When governance blocks instead of enables, AI projects stall and teams get frustrated.
In this session, we'll cover how to build governance that actually works: decision making systems teams follow, steering groups that move fast, and Fortune 100 rigor scaled for your reality.
What you’ll learn
- The difference between data governance and AI governance (and why you need both)
- How to structure steering groups that make decisions, not just schedule meetings
- Prioritization frameworks your team will use to be AI ready
-
Practical maturity assessment for AI readiness
Roberta McCarter brings over 25 years of data and analytics leadership from Fortune 100 enterprises to small and mid-sized organizations navigating growth, complexity, and AI adoption. As a data & analytics executive at McKesson, Amazon, USAA, and HEB, Roberta built and scaled data & AI management programs, led enterprise analytics transformations, and managed technology portfolios exceeding $1 billion. Her work spans highly regulated environments and cross functional teams, with deep experience across the full data lifecycle from governance and management to analytics and decision enablement. After decades inside large enterprises, Roberta founded Novus Data Journeys to bring that same level of rigor and clarity to growing organizations through fractional, high touch partnerships. She provides fractional data and analytics services to organizations that need senior expertise without building large internal teams. As an EDM Association Authorized Partner and DCAM V3 Certified Trainer, Roberta works closely with data and technology leaders to turn data chaos into confident action, whether they are establishing governance foundations, assessing data maturity, or preparing responsibly for AI adoption. Roberta is passionate about people first data strategy and believes the most effective solutions come from understanding.
