The Fifth Third Bank building in downtown Grand Rapids is undergoing a major first-of-its-kind conversion from business to living space.

Part of the Vandenberg Center, the building is a historic site and easily recognizable as a pillar of the downtown area. In 1967 when other companies were leaving the city for the suburbs, Old Kent Bank, now Fifth Third, made a commitment to stay downtown and built this 11-story building originally called One Vandenberg Center.

See the transformation and new life as 7 floors will soon house 140 apartments with many amenities including a member’s lounge, catering kitchen, event space, full gym, indoor pool, paddleboard workshop, golf and driving simulator room, pet washing station, and indoor pickleball court. The lower floors will remain office space dominated by Fifth Third Bank. Construction is expected to wrap up by the summer of 2026.

PPE required, please bring your own. We may have limited extras.
