VIRTUAL EVENT
Moving from Advocacy to Influence and Effectuating Change
Whether it's in our career or other aspects of our life, we frequently encounter situations where we desire something else, or have to make a shift. Inforum’s HealthcareNext committee invites you to join Jen Gonzalez in a session about advocacy, influence and how to make change happen. This event aims to help participants learn how to move from advocacy to influence and effectuate change in their personal and professional lives. Participants will learn how to use reflection, crisis, and accountability as tools for personal development planning and work in small groups to reflect on their own goals and challenges, and use tools to help them identify what they really want and how to achieve it.
Jennifer Gonzalez is an accomplished Human Resources professional with a unique blend of legal expertise and human resources leadership. Her career has been defined by her unwavering commitment to optimizing workplace dynamics and enhancing employee experiences.
With a solid foundation in labor and employment law derived from 15 years in private practice at Dykema and Hall Render, Jen transitioned from supporting HR teams to leading HR teams in 2018. Jen leverages her legal expertise to navigate the complexities of HR practices, and her impact has been transformative.
Jen led the Human Resources team at University of Michigan Health-West from 2018 until the Spring of 2022. In her role as Chief Human Resources Officer, she spearheaded and implemented numerous initiatives designed to support the well-being of healthcare professionals both inside and outside of work. Her holistic approach to HR led to improved employee morale and a more supportive work environment, resulting in University of Michigan Health-West being the only healthcare system in Grand Rapids included in the 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work for during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, and being recognized as an Elite Best and Brightest winner a few years later.
Currently, Jen serves as the Chief Talent Officer at The Windquest Group, where she has undertaken a remarkable journey to launch a leadership academy across numerous companies and industries to provide a competitive advantage to leaders across the Windquest portfolio. Her strategic vision and innovative approach – including partnering with Hogan to support development of individuals and teams – have positioned the organization and portfolio companies for sustained success in attracting, retaining, and motivating top talent.
Jen Gonzalez continues to be a trailblazer in the HR field, blending her legal expertise with her passion for elevating the employee experience. Her career exemplifies her commitment to shaping workplaces where individuals thrive, and organizations flourish. She was recognized as a finalist for the Michigan Society for Human Resources Management’s HR Life-Time Achievement Award in October 2023.
Jen earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Michigan, with dual specializations in Law, Criminology and Deviance; as well as Social Welfare, Organizations and Social Systems. She then went on to obtain her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Santa Clara University School of Law.
