Thriving Together: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Mental Wellness and Business Success

May is Mental Health month. The pandemic has created new challenges for individuals and families. This month Marilyn Clark of A2 Affinity will discuss a popular model used by many mental health care professionals, the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy model. Understanding how health care professionals use this model to treat anxiety and depression will help you understand how to focus your attention to improve your own mood and thrive. It also gives you clues to helping your family members develop the tools to confront life’s challenges with new ways of coping.

Marilyn Clark spent the pandemic working with a University of Michigan researcher who implemented the tools developed from Cognitive Behavior Therapy to help individuals through their own struggles. Marilyn learned to lead groups as a lay leader working with the material developed by Patricia Deldin, PhD. Dr. Deldin’s model proved more effective than individual therapy.

Marilyn Clark is a business professional who has worked for large companies and startups. She has worked internationally, taught in business school and led a not-for-profit high-tech incubator. She is a life long learner and enthusiastically helped Dr. Deldin first with coaching on her business to help it grow and then to working in the business leading peer groups to learn the tools used in cognitive behavior therapy. She took this opportunity to pursue this avenue fulfilling a childhood dream of working as a psychologist. Understanding psychological drivers is a key ingredient in managing yourself and others in business.
