The Likability Dilemma for Women Leaders
Women in leadership positions often face biases and stereotypes about gender roles and behaviors. Studies and observations suggest that women leaders can face unique challenges and biases that may affect their likability in comparison to their male counterparts because there remains an expectation that women are to be nurturing, empathetic, and cooperative, while men are expected to be assertive, confident, and decisive. When women exhibit assertive traits, typically associated with leadership, they may face backlash or be perceived as unlikeable.
Join us on November 3, 2023 for a networking event that examines Robin Hauser’s TedTalk called the “Likeability Dilemma for Women Leaders.” We will discuss the root causes of these biases and stereotypes and brainstorm ways to promote equal opportunities and treatment for women in the leadership positions.
