Inforum members only: Girl Scouts Impact in Southeast Michigan
September 20
Join us for a special event for Inforum members, where individuals can virtually meet Monica Woodson, CEO, Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan (GSSEM). Monica will be sharing with the group details about GSSEM's planned $35 million-$40 million campus in Detroit that will offer free and fee-based programming to scouts, non-scouts, girls and boys.
Monica has led the Girls Scouts since May 2020 and also has served as regional vice president with the Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Southeast Indiana, where she was instrumental in the development of the Chicago council’s GirlSpace program. That program is a program similar in scope to GSSEM’s Girl Empowerment Program (GEP), aimed at bringing the benefits of Girl Scouting to girls in communities where forming traditional, volunteer-led troops proves challenging.
Monica’s career in nonprofit leadership spans nonprofit organizations across the human services spectrum. Previous positions have included Monica interim chief program officer for the Centers for New Horizons and CEO of Albany Park Community Center, both in Chicago; and executive director of the Macomb Children’s Healthcare Access Program.
She also is a proud Girl Scout alum and credits her Girl Scout experiences from childhood to high school graduation with giving her the skills necessary to pursue and achieve her career goals. .
