The Inflation Reduction Act – How Small and Medium-Sized Businesses Can Benefit

May 18, noon-1:30 p.m. (virtual)

Presented by Sustainable Business Network Detroit and Inforum

The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 includes $500 billion in new spending and tax breaks targeted toward climate change, clean energy, training and workforce development, the development of clean infrastructure, and more. Please join us for a free lunchtime virtual event where a panel of experts will help you understand what opportunities are available to help you build your business and create generational wealth.

Speakers:

Joel Howrani Heeres, director, Public Sector Consultants, will unpack what the IRA means for businesses (and others), and specifically for the city of Detroit, where he was the city’s sustainability director. You can learn more about Joel, who also has served as Detroit’s sustainability director, here.

Jerry Davis, professor, Ross School of Business, University of Michigan will share the experience of his graduate course aimed at launching green startups in Detroit. Learn more about Jerry here.

Dan Radomski, executive director, Centrepolis Accelerator at Lawrence Tech University. Dan works daily to help Southeast Michigan small manufacturers and hardware entrepreneurs grow by providing access to experts, key resources, and a collaborative community. Learn more about Dan here.

The panel will be moderated by Kimberly Hill Knott, president and CEO of Future Insight Consulting, which specializes in coalition building and project management with diverse audiences around climate change, environmental justice, and workforce development. Kimberly’s background includes serving as policy director for Detroiters for Environmental Justice and working as a congressional staffer for U.S. Rep. John Conyers.
