Now What: Finding Our Way Through Adversity

Let’s take a look at the pandemic and what and where we are when it comes to historical understanding of great disasters. Looking at how trauma and the triggers that trauma open up for us are an “ opportunity for growth”. Our personal and professional identity and how our values must be reflected upon are a priority. Together, we will look at a few “tools” to manage the rough waters we find ourselves in.

Debra Hollander M.D. is a Diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.  She received her medical education at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. Dr.Hollander did her residency in psychiatry at the Detroit Psychiatric Institute and Internal Medicine internship at Sinai Hospital both in Detroit, MI. She has held numerous leadership positions within Ascension Providence Hospital, serving as the Chair of the Behavioral Medicine, a position she held for 13 years.  In 2016, after leaving her leadership position she took a role in Graduate Medical Education (GME) as the Psychiatry Clerkship Director for MSU College Of Osteopathic Medicine and College of Human Medicine students and she is also the co-director for GME wellness, all at Ascension Providence Hospital. 

Recently she served as an at-large member for the medical executive team at Providence Hospital.  In addition, she has served on numerous boards and advisory committees exploring unmet mental health concerns.  One of her passions has been caring for the caregiver, as she has recognized throughout her career that the sacred work of healing is also quite challenging. 

Debra speaks on a wide variety of issues regarding self-care, resilience, adapting to change, addressing burnout and mindfulness self compassion.
