The Great Career Change - Virtual Panel Discussion
During the Tues., March 15 at 2-3:30 p.m. Inforum Michigan Women on the Move meeting we're talking to people who took the plunge to change careers. The program will be between 2-3 and virtual networking from 3:00 - 3:30 p.m.
We're seeing that within the Great Resignation, 53% of Americans actually want to move to a totally new industry, according to Prudential’s latest Pulse of the American Worker Survey.
If you've considered a career change or have made one, please join us as we learn from these career change panelists:
Julie Piccone, Owner, Floor Coverings International, Plymouth/Canton - At 27 years old, Julie changed careers from what she always thought would be her dream job working at Ford as Program Buyer to owning her own franchise business Floor Coverings International based in Plymouth (minutes from home). She owns the business with her dad Alberto who retired from Ford. Julie loves the creativity, customer service and ability to see a finished job and delighted clients.
Lynn Johnson, PharmD - Lynn changed careers from being a pharmacist to becoming the President of APiS North America, distributor of the APIS® IQ-Software. Lynn oversees a team that works with quality and safety engineering programs and projects for companies all over the globe. She gives the following advice when people when look to make a career change or any other changes for that matter, "You will not regret doing it, but you most likely would look back and regret not going for it. Set a goal, make that change, and go for it."
Nancy Maurer, Owner, Sonder Haven, LLC has defied those who said “it couldn’t be done” to change careers several times throughout her 25+ years in leadership positions. She has worked in various roles and industries including communications, healthcare, non-profit, and entrepreneurship. Nancy is now a leadership and professional development coach who works with others to create careers they love.
Moderator: Carol C. Ward, Franchise Consultant, FranNet, is one of the co-chairs of Inforum Michigan's Women on the Move and co-founder and co-chair of Inforum's Lady Bosses Group. Carol made a career change from a 20+ year career in public relations to franchising back in 2013, when she joined FranNet's headquarters in Louisville as a franchise specialist. Today, she has her own S Corporation through FranNet of Michigan where she places people in franchise ownership.
