Progress for women on corporate boards has been slow – but slower still for Black women.
On May 11, join Inforum for breakfast – in person or virtually - for an informative and engaging discussion about the status of Black women on corporate boards.
The event features:
- The release of a special report on the status of Black women on boards in Michigan and nationally
- Insights and information from a panel of Black women board members
Speakers:
Christie Coplen, Spencer Stuart
Christie Coplen is a member of the leadership team of Spencer Stuart’s global Industrial Practice and is a consultant in the technology officer and automotive practices and the firm’s Leadership Advisory Services team. With nearly 20 years of experience in several broad-based industrial sectors, she is well-versed in the senior-level leadership needs and talent pool in related fields such as digital, product development, electrical and electronic products, software, mobility, and operations. Christie has delivered global answers to board, C-suite, and senior-level assignments across her sector, and also has expertise in executive assessment, top team effectiveness, succession planning, and leadership development efforts.
Wendye Mingo, Kresge Foundation
Wendye Mingo is the managing director of information technology at The Kresge Foundation. Wendye joined Kresge in 2017 and has led several initiatives, including moving the foundation’s entire infrastructure to the cloud and redesigning its operating model. Previously she worked as an IT leader in the financial services units of both Mercedes-Benz and the former DaimlerChrysler Corp. Wendye is a board member of Oxford Bank Corp., the Wayne State University College of Education Board of Visitors, and the Detroit School for Digital Technology. She is also an active, life member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® and has established an endowment fund for female students majoring in information technology through the Educational Advancement Foundation.
Christine Moore, Comerica Bank
Christine Moore is executive vice president and general auditor for Comerica Bank and a member of the Cooper Standard board of directors, where she is a member of the audit committee. She is a member of the Comerica Management Executive Committee and reports to the Audit Committee of the board of directors and administratively to the Chairman and CEO. Christine began her accounting and auditing career at PriceWaterhouseCoopers before joining Comerica in 1991. Christine also is board chair for the nonprofit Alternatives for Girls and is the executive sponsor and past chair of the Comerica African American Network and a member of the Executive Leadership Council (ELC), an organization providing programming and financial support for the next generation of global leaders.

Karen Carter, Dow
Karen S. Carter is the chief human resources officer and the first chief inclusion officer for Dow. She previously was North America commercial vice president, Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics, and has held a variety of global business positions for the company. She is on the board of directors for Southwire, a leading manufacturer of wire and cable used in the transmission and distribution of electricity, delivering power to millions of people around the world. She is also on the board of directors for the Great Lakes Bay Region Boys and Girls Clubs of America. Karen was recently appointed as the chair of the Business Leaders Committee on the State of Michigan’s Black Leadership Advisory Council. She is also a member of the Executive Leadership Council and is on the Catalyst Board of Advisors. To read more about Karen click here.
