WM Dinner Affinity Group

Join us for dinner at a West Michigan area restaurant each month to meet and network with other Inforum members and guests. This group gives you the opportunity to try new restaurants all over town, as well as some oldies-but-goodies.

Meet us in the bar for drinks & mingling at 5:00 (water and wine both count as drinks!) or pull up a chair in the dining area at 5:30. You'll order off the menu and pay your own check. Be sure to bring your appetite and plenty of business cards to pass around.

MARCH: HORSESHOE SMOKEHOUSE

Our building: Built in 1891, It was originally operated as a boarding house and grocery store catering to railroad passengers coming into the city. It operated this way until after World War II, when it became the Lamar Hotel. It is also widely rumored to have served as a brothel during this era.

The horseshoe bar era: Frank Lamar opened the Horseshoe Bar in our location on the first level of the building shortly after opening the hotel. The Horseshoe quickly became the premier venue for Jazz music in the Grand Rapids area during it's heyday in the 40's and 50's. It played host to many national artists as well as countless local musicians throughout the era.

We start with the finest meats and dry rub them before smoking them with hickory wood for a rich, smokey flavor. We offer a variety of made from scratch sauces, ranging from tangy and bold to smooth and sweet.  As part of our commitment to being a part of the community, we use locally sourced products wherever possible. We serve our food using sustainable paper and vegetable oil based based plastic products.
