Nutritional Wellness -From Knowing to Doing

 It I this time of the year, and you are probably thinking about New Year's Resolutions. Nutrition is key to living a healthy lifestyle, but knowing what, how, and when to eat can be challenging. A Healthy lifestyle translates into greater productivity, more efficiency and higher morale. Join our speaker, Emily Camiener, on providing science and evidence-based information, that would offer each person opportunities to better understand and utilize the concepts of food as medicine. She shares actionable tools for sharpening skills to using food as a source of wellness and how to turn that advice into your own permanent lifestyle plans.”

 

Speaker: Emily Camiener, MPH, RDN, CDCES

Emily Camiener has been working for over thirty years with organizations and individuals to identify opportunities to improve health and wellness using food and nutrition. Her passion is to engage minds in the “what and why” of nutrition. By providing science and evidence-based information, she offers each person opportunities to better understand and utilize the concepts of food as medicine. She shares actionable tools for sharpening skills to using food as a source of wellness. Her evidence based, personalized approach is balanced with realistic goal setting, understanding challenges of modern life, and avoiding the confusion surrounding diet myths. Emily’s private practice EC Nutrition LLC, and dietdetroit.com provides an Integrative and Functional nutrition approach focusing on preventing, treating, and reversing chronic disease. She is also currently the Integrative Dietitian at Beaumont Health’s Integrative Medicine Clinics in Royal Oak and Troy. She currently sees a wide variety of patients from young people to adults for promoting nutrition throughout the lifecycle, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, disordered eating, and GI diseases. Emily received her B.A. in Psychology from University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and her Master of Public Health Nutrition and RDN from Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California. Her graduate studies focused on health promotion and the vegetarian diet. She completed her internship training both in the Cardiovascular Risk Reduction Program at the University of Michigan and at Oakwood Hospital in clinical dietetics. Her professional career includes in-patient clinical dietetics, health management consulting for managed care and wellness program development for corporations. Emily was the full-time nutrition instructor and nutrition department chair for Schoolcraft College’s culinary bachelor’s degree program.
