Description
Keynote speaker Kate Germano, co-author of Fight Like a Girl: The Truth Behind How Female Marines Are Trained, will inspire us with her battle against systemic gender bias and the lessons it holds for all of us. Kate’s experience comes from 20 years of service during which she became concerned about the “soft bigotry of low expectations” for women recruits. Her efforts to change culture and practices led to her departure in 2015, and she now has a leadership coaching practice and is a featured speaker on leadership and communication, the brain science of relationships and teams, resilience, and diversity and equity issues for a wide variety of organizations and companies.
If you are registered, please look for an email from Anna Grace agrace@inforummichigan.org and CrowdPass for next steps for COVID-19 restrictions.
Keynote speaker

After leaving the Marine Corps, Kate returned to school to make better sense of what had happened to her, attending Georgetown University to learn more about change leadership and diversity, equity, and inclusion. She also attained her leadership coaching credentials from Fielding Graduate University, the International Coaching Federation, and the NeuroLeadership Institute. Her work is heavily grounded in emotional intelligence and the brain science of leadership and communication. Believing you can always teach an old dog new tricks, as a coach and consultant with Cassandra-Helenus Partners, LLC (C + H Partners), she uses her own experiences as powerful tools to help others be more insightful, accountable, and able to artfully navigate change. Her writing has been published in national media outlets to include the New York Times, Washington Post, San Diego Union Tribune, Time Magazine, U.S. News and World Report, and more. She has also been featured on NPR, CSPAN, and PBS Newshour. To read more about Kate click here.
