Description
Welcome to Inforum's Sustainability + Environmental Affinity Group
Join us for Inforum's newest affinity group that's all around sustainability and environmental work! Join us for Inforum's Sustainability & Environmental Affinity Group meeting! This meeting we will hear from a local Detroit entrepreneur, Amy Peterson, talk about the broader picture of sustainability with her company Rebel Nell.
The goal of this group is to provide learning and inspiration about work in this area being done in Michigan. One outcome the group is working toward will be building relationships between Inforum members and organizations focused on sustainability as an extension of our inSTEM initiative. One of the roles of the Affinity Group will be to help develop a pool of potential board members for nonprofits in the environmental and sustainability fields who don’t always have access to board candidates with corporate/business backgrounds.
Speaker:
Amy Peterson co-founded Rebel Nell in 2013 to educate and empower disadvantaged women in Detroit by employing them to make jewelry from unique local materials and providing them with other education and services. Amy spent 11 years with the Detroit Tigers' front office before becoming vice president of the Ross Initiative for Sports in Equality in November 2017. She left that post to devote her full-time attention to Rebel Nell in August. For more about Amy and Rebel Nell click here.
