Understanding Generational Diversity: Why it’s important to the future workplace with speaker Mary Cooney
Mary Cooney
Creativia is a boutique firm with a focused specialty – solving the inter-generational communication hurdles and challenges facing the corporate world. I work with companies ranging from small businesses to the Fortune 500.
From a young age, I’ve seen what happens when the generations work together harmoniously in sync on goals. It is truly inspirational! I’ve pursued the path of facilitating communication and productive synergy between the generations throughout my career.
After successfully helping to improve millennial student retention at Wayne State University, I decided to put what I’d learned about millennials from over 10+ years in the lecture hall to work in the business environment. I’d encountered many who expressed frustration or misunderstanding about millennials in the workplace.
As a millennial advocate and a wise boomer, I understand the components to inter-generational conflict and how to overcome them. Creativia shows boomers and Xers how millennials are wired to win for your business and desirous of mentoring. When applied, this information unlocks new insights, communication patterns and approaches from millennials as boomers and Xers learn to push millennials’ passion buttons. The results exceed expectations!
For millennials, I guide them in answering the question, “Why am I here?” I uncover what drives them and assist them in understanding the expectations of the older generations.
KEY ACHIEVEMENTS
◆ I taught multigenerational workplace collaboration at the Supervisor's Academy for The Third Judicial Circuit of Michigan.
◆ Selected by the millennial leaders of Quicken's Women’s Team Member Resource Network to facilitate a discussion on Generational Diversity for an Inforum event in 2018.
