Mentorship:  A Circle of Success

Like any other relationship, mentorship takes work. In this virtual ManufacturingNEXT session, we will explore the roles and responsibilities of both the Mentor and the Mentee in healthy, productive interactions.  We will have small group discussion as well as a panel discussion from representatives of ManufacturingNEXT’s first Mentorship Group. 

Speakers (Mentors)

Frances Hogsten
Vice president of supply chain, Haworth
Frances has over 25 years of supply chain and sourcing experience. Frances has significant experience in managing global teams located in Europe, Asia (China & India) as well as North America and has personally spent time in Mexico and Asia.  She has led global supply chain organizations for companies in multiple industries such as:  Ingersoll Rand (heavy industrial), Lutron Electronics (lighthing industrial), Solectron (EMS), General Electric (heavy industrial). She has played an instrumental role in Supplier rationalization, driving working capital improvements as well as serving as Lean Champion for her functional group.  

 

Mary Stevens
Senior vice president, Global product development and innovation, Herman Miller
Mary has been with Herman Miller since 1984. In that time, she’s held multiple positions, most recently serving as the company’s Senior Vice President for Global Product Development and Innovation. In this role, she oversees development of all products in the Herman Miller family of brands and oversees the innovation agenda for the company. Previously, Mary was the Senior Vice President of Global Marketing. In that role, she oversaw all aspects of the company’s global marketing initiatives. She has also led the corporate strategic planning process for the executive leadership team for several years developing the significant SHIFT strategy. To read more about Mary click here.

Anne Betts
Strategic leader and organizational developer
Anne is an experienced, self-motivated, and results-driven professional with over fifteen years of experience in strategic leadership, organizational development, project management, process development and implementation. She managed one of the largest departments within a $2B financial institution requiring strong leadership, team development, problem-solving, and analytical expertise. She's held management positions in a variety of business types: corporate, small business and non-profit and is currently seeking a manufacturing company to own and operate.

Alli Copeland
Personal care manufacturing plant manager, Amway

Alli has spent most of her 8-year career in manufacturing with cross-functional experience in engineering and quality assurance. She is passionate about leadership, talent development, and delivering innovate solutions with experience leading hourly and salaried employees. Alli invests significant time in building and leveraging mentor/mentee relationships to help her continue growing in her career. Alli holds a Bachelor’s degree in Plastics Engineering and Master’s degree in Business Administration from Ferris State University.

Shaquanda Gordon
Vice President, HR Talent & Diversity, Spartan Nash
Shaquanda has over 15 years of HR experience, and prides herself in building healthy teams while using their extensive Human Resources knowledge and experience to drive best practices and enable company strategy. Shaquanda has had the pleasure to serve the business at Gordon Food Service as Vice President NA Human Resources, Perrigo Company, PLC in Allegan, MI, where she served as Senior Director of HR, Corporate & Global Functions. Earlier in her career Shaquanda also held HR leadership roles at Priority Health and Meijer. In addition she spent 10 years as an adjunct instructor for Davenport University.
