Welcome to the newest Inforum affinity group, Women Across Michigan! This group's purpose is to connect professional women throughout Michigan while discussing statewide issues, topics and opportunities. This group will have a virtual monthly meetings on the third Tuesday of the month to connect women throughout the state!

Our first meeting will have speaker Wendy Block, and offer networking time at the end with the attendees on the call. As Michigan businesses begin to reopen, Wendy will be discussing expectations, potential obstacles, protocol and what will the new “norms” could look like when we go back to the office.

Wendy Block is the Vice President Business Advocacy for the Michigan Chamber of Commerce. Wendy is responsible for developing and advancing legislative and regulatory proposals and agendas that represent Chamber members’ interests on a wide range of issues, including health care, legal reform, workforce development and employment law.  Wendy also manages the Chamber’s Health and Human Resources Committee, a member-based committee that helps shape the chamber’s position on key issues and public policy proposals.

Wendy has worked in and around Lansing political circles for two decades. Prior to joining the Chamber, Wendy served as a policy advisor for the Michigan House of Representatives covering health insurance, financial services and education issue and held other policy-related positions in the Michigan House and Senate.

Wendy holds a B.A. from Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois.  She is a graduate of the US Chamber of Commerce Institute for Organization Management (IOM), the Leadership Michigan program and the Leadership Development Program (LDP) at the Center for Creative Leadership. Wendy was identified by lawmakers, lobbyists, association executives and executive branch officials in the MIRS/EPIC-MRA Insider’s Survey as one of Lansing’s most effective single-issue lobbyists (2009 and 2013—the two most recent surveys).

Wendy serves on following boards and committees: The Council of State Chambers Policy Center Advisory Board, the Michigan Self-Insurers’ Association Board of Managers, the Council of State Chambers Employment and Labor Committee (co-chair) and the Unemployment Insurance Agency’s Employer Advisory Committee. Wendy regularly speaks to chambers, trade associations and other groups across the state and country about ballot proposals and key legislative and regulatory issues.
