Transitioning Through Career Change: What I Learned About Myself

Why is this such a struggle? Do I still want to do this work? Did the earth come to a screeching halt or did I just take a giant leap forward? These are thoughts that ran through my mind as I transitioned out of a 19-year career with the same employer.

Uncertain of what lay ahead I leaned into what I thought I knew about why I did my work, cultural intelligence, and living an authentic life. Over 18 months later I reflect on what I now understand about my journey from leaving a job with access to a broad range of information and chicken dinners, to feeling uncertain and financially fragile, to being joyful in an unexpected career.

If I had to do it over again would I take the leap – absolutely!
