Joan Sampieri, President of the Ann Arbor Area chapter of the League of Women Voters will be the guest speaker at the Ann Arbor Affinity group on October 7th. Ms. Sampieri will talk about the Leagues’ current programs, which include voter registration, election monitoring, education on voting and other public policy matters, candidate forums during the primary and general elections, and monthly virtual educational programs on emerging issues. Discussion will continue with lessons learned in the Michigan Primary held on August 4th, and concerns about the upcoming November election. In order to facilitate the many questions that the participants may have, we will be extending this meeting to 1.5 hours.

About Joan:

Joan Sampieri has been president of the League of Women Voters of the Ann Arbor Area since 2018. Ms. Sampieri retired in December 2019 as head of a consulting firm that specialized in the development of effective nonprofit and for-profit operations and board governance, and in resource development and grant proposal writing to garner support for agency’s missions. She has served on nonprofit boards since 1976 and in addition to the League of Women Voters, she is a member of the Executive Committee and the Treasurer for a North American Quaker organization, Friends General Conference.
