Broaden Your Career (and Life!) with a Global Mindset

It's a big world out there and so much to know. How does your career or business shift when you have more awareness or more involvement with an international community? We will be talking with Marian Reich about her career, which has a rich exposure to many countries and has affected citizen diplomacy. In this session, we will discuss:

• How global experience creates broader experience to solve problems in creative ways.
• Exposure to challenges that we don't face locally but give insights to our own American experiences
• How to connect with global communities - even if it's not through your workplace.

Our Speaker: Marian Reich, President, Global Ties Detroit

Marian joined Global Ties Detroit in June 2012, creating connections between international leaders and their Detroit counterparts through U.S. Department of State-sponsored exchange programs and fellowships. Before moving to Detroit, Marian served as Assistant Director of WorldChicago for eight years. Her passion for international exchange started at Friends School of Baltimore when she travelled to Russia and Ukraine with her Russian class. She earned a BA in Modern Languages and International Relations at University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC), with a semester abroad in Moscow, Russia, and her MA in Slavic Studies at University of Illinois Chicago followed by a year of teaching English at Gdańsk University, Poland.
