The Pivot Panel - How Lady Bosses Pivoted Post-Pandemic

Learn how several "lady bosses" were able to pivot their businesses to be relevant post-pandemic. We hope you find their stories inspiring and help you gain some new ideas on how you might pivot your business, your business idea or within your organization.

Moderator: Karyl Eckerle, The Image Impact Group founder and CEO.

As an image and personal brand consultant and speaker, Karyl’s time has typically been split between in-person coaching sessions and professional speaking engagements. Then March happened. Karyl quickly pivoted to bring her business exclusively online; from private coaching clients to webinars to virtual keynotes to developing a new group coaching practice, everything (for now) is virtual. Her new motto? #pivotgrowlead

Speakers include

Erin Saba, owner of Ohana Fitness & Wellness. She and her business partner Sam Lazaris were able to launch online training within 24 hours of Michigan being shut down. This is a major feat for anyone, but for a small local business this is amazing. They also were able work with their clients who were reluctant to use the online training, to join in on the virtual workouts. Furthermore, they also helped people within their industry make adjustments. www.ohanafitnessandwellness.com

Linda Teaman, CEO, Shoshana Technologies.

Linda is the CEO at Shoshana Technologies, based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Shoshana Technologies launched the Rosemark System software tool in 2002. Since then, home care business owners across the United States and Canada have come to rely on Rosemark’s streamlined, cloud-based technology to help them run their day-to-day home care operations with the utmost efficiency. They’ve also come to trust Rosemark for another essential advantage: customer service. Linda has been working in the home health care industry for over 15 years. Her dedication to home care agencies’ success is evident in the quality of the software the company provides and the support necessary for an industry that's main focus is people care and not technology. Linda spent many years as a school teacher and now provides business and marketing coaching and guidance to Rosemark customers as well as the local business community. In her spare time Linda is a singer/musician, gardener, nutrient dense food enthusiast and gonzo family cook.

Naomi Afriyie, founder and CEO, WeShea. Before COVID, Naomi had already planned to redirect her business model from selling at business expos and events to an online store. Although she was disappointed when COVID hit, she decided to push through and relaunch her brand regardless of the uncertainty. She decided to take a helping approach rather than "selling" by offering free services including online consultations and teaching her audience how to make their own products at home. As a result, she's selling more than ever! Naomi is a recent recipient of monetary awards from Pontiac Big Idea Competition as well as "Startupper of the Year 2019" in Ghana, her home country where she produces her products.

The purpose of the Lady Bosses is to provide educational programming (speakers, workshops), support, inspiration, accountability to and from other Inforum business owners or prospective owners. While much of the Inforum membership is in the corporate world, Lady Bosses Affinity Group is designed to meet the unique needs of business owners. It can also become a catalyst to encourage women to start or purchase their own businesses. The group also can provide and gain synergy from Inforum’s inGAGE strategy. In 2017 just 17 percent of companies had a female founder, a number that hasn’t changed in five years, according to Crunchbase.
