Description
Lady Bosses,
Our most recent feedback indicates that the group is interested in hearing from an attorney specializing in business start-ups. You mentioned it and we listened!
Please plan to join Inforum Michigan’s Lady Bosses Affinity Group to meet our special guest Leigh Dones Moss, Attorney-at-Law,
for her Q&A presentation: “Choosing and Maintaining Your Entity and Protecting Against Personal Liability.”
When?
Wednesday, February 5, 2020
10:30 a.m. – noon
Where?
Partnr Haus
2139 Cole Street
Birmingham, MI 48009
A Note from Leigh:
“Most of us know that we need to create an entity for our business operations, for example an LLC or a Corporation. But we don’t know why it is necessary to have an entity in place instead of operating as a sole proprietor. We will discuss the importance of establishing and maintaining your business with a separate and distinct identify from its owners, both for tax purposes and to avoid exposing your personal assets to the liabilities of your business.”
About Leigh Dones Moss, Attorney, Founding Member, Moss Law, PLC:
Leigh Moss opened Moss Law, PLC in 2016, a business law firm in Bloomfield Hills. She previously served as a Principal of Resnick & Moss, PLC, and is a former President of the Women’s Bar Association of Oakland County. Leigh has more than 25 years of experience advising a wide range of clients with their day-to-day business law matters, from “start-ups” to established businesses, to clients ready to buy or sell a business, as well as financially distressed businesses considering bankruptcy. Leigh actively works with her clients on business formation and operation, employment issues, non-competition agreements, confidentiality agreements, and other contracts and leases. On the bankruptcy side, Leigh offers extensive knowledge and experience in both debtor and creditor rights for real property owners and businesses. Additionally, she comes highly recommended as an attorney that develops strategies for her clients allowing them to avoid bankruptcy and find debt settlement and workout solutions instead. Leigh was recognized in 2019 as a Michigan Super Lawyer for excellence in the practice area of Business/Corporate, an award given to only 5% of attorneys in Michigan.
We look forward to seeing you there!
The purpose of the Lady Bosses is to provide educational programming (speakers, workshops), support, inspiration, accountability to and from other Inforum business owners or prospective owners. While much of the Inforum membership is in the corporate world, Lady Bosses Affinity Group is designed to meet the unique needs of business owners. It can also become a catalyst to encourage women to start or purchase their own businesses. The group also can provide and gain synergy from Inforum’s inGAGE strategy. In 2017 just 17 percent of companies had a female founder, a number that hasn’t changed in five years, according to Crunchbase.
