Inforum Connections at Robert Kidd Gallery
September 25
Join us for an evening of networking at Robert Kidd Gallery in Birmingham. Inforum Connections is a way for members and guests to connect with Inforum and each other. Our goal is to create a memorable experience in a setting that showcases a local business with a behind-the-scenes view. There will be wine and appetizers provided by the generosity of the Robert Kidd Gallery.
Robert Kidd Gallery was founded in 1976 By Robert Louis Kidd and Ray Frost Fleming, graduates of the Cranbrook Academy of Art. Owed to the curatorial vigor of Kidd and Fleming, the Robert Kidd Gallery achieved early notoriety through the caliber and consistency of its exhibitions, and a growing stable of prestigious artists with whom the gallery became affiliated. In the early 1980s, the gallery's exhibition and archive spaces were expanded by renowned architect Irving Tobocman, and fitted with custom gallery interiors by Kidd. The elegant modern designs conceived and constructed at the time of this collaboration remain in the two-level gallery on Townsend Street in downtown Birmingham, Michigan to this day.
Gerard Marti, owner of Robert Kidd Gallery, was born in Marseille, France and schooled at École des Beaux Arts in Paris. After school, Gerard became a musician, songwriter, sound engineer, record producer, and video director for EMI Records. In the early 1990s, after years in the recording industry, Gerard was inspired to merge his love of art and pop culture through a gallery venture that specialized in artworks by celebrities and musicians. Since that time, Gerard has been involved in the gallery business in Maui, Hawaii and Los Angeles, California. In 2015, Gerard moved to Birmingham, Michigan to devote his time to his most recent endeavors at the Robert Kidd Gallery.
