Description

Join the NEW SE Arts & Culture Affinity Group for their 3rd event! On February 20th you will get the chance to visit Pewabic Pottery for networking, tour, and shopping! Pewabic Pottery is a ceramic studio and school at 10125 East Jefferson Avenue, Detroit, Michigan. Founded in 1903, the studio is known for its iridescent glazes, some of which grace notable buildings such as the Shedd Aquarium and Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. To learn more about Pewabic click here.

Pewabic docent led tours and hands-on workshops are the perfect introduction to their community. On Pewabic's guided tours, a docent will take you through their storied history beginning with the founding of Pewabic. In addition to their history, go behind the scenes in the fabrication space to see the staff pressing tiles, glazing bisque objects and (un)loading kilns. The docent will also take you for a quick visit to Pewabic's education studio where they share the methods and tradition of making ceramics.
