The Humanity of Philanthropy

This month our speaker, MiVida Burrus, will lead us in discussing how philanthropy is the essence of love through “paying it forward”. It’s not something to be reserved for the holiday season but rather an activity we should consider engaging in all year.

MiVida’s love and passion for people led her into the world of fundraising. She is the Director of Development for the Haven Shelter for Domestic Violence and formerly led development for Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit. In her role, she strives to connect people to their passions through philanthropy.

MiVida also works as a champion of the IDEA - Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Access - Greater Detroit chapter of AFP and serves on the board. MiVida is dedicated to helping others expand their understanding of differences in people so those differences are seen as attributes rather than flaws. She has learned to marry the IDEA with philanthropy to help more people gain access to great organizations that allow them to make an impact through their support.

The mission of the Inforum Troy Morning Networking Group is to be the one meeting you look forward to attending each month. We are committed to an “apology-free” zone so do not apologize if you’re a few minutes late, or if you need to leave a few minutes early (we’ve ALL been there). Our goal is to be a welcoming, supporting networking group for professional women. The group meets monthly on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. at Walsh College.  Doors open at 7:45 a.m.
